Access Canadian Crop Production & Yield Forecasts
Our Yield Forecast Indexes for Corn and Soybeans have helped crop marketers in the U.S. get ahead of the curve and make better decisions, which is why we are thrilled to announce that we are expanding our offering into Canadian markets!
Starting this July, forecasts for Spring Wheat, Corn, and Soybeans will be available free to the public on the first Tuesday of each month, allowing users to make crop marketing decisions ahead of traditional government reports and understand the complete supply-side picture of North American grain. The forecasts, which are generated by applying machine learning to satellite imagery and remote sensing technology, are calculated at the National, Province, District, and County level; and historical data is available starting from the 2018 growing season.
Users can access our forecasts through the following channels:
- Subscribers to cmdtyView Pro have access to daily forecast updates on their desktop or streamed into Excel with the included cmdtyView Excel Add-in.
- Free semi-monthly crop production and yield estimates for Canada and major production areas are available through our Canadian Crop Production Report with more limited information on our website.
- Enterprise data subscribers access daily updates as they are published to power their apps or enterprise solutions.
With access to our yield forecast indexes users can identify areas of opportunity before traditional AAFC reports are released and confidently make better lending, pricing, and hedging decisions. Below you will see Barchart’s crop production forecasts correctly predicted Canada’s 2020 spring wheat yield months ahead of traditional reports, with a final 2020 forecast of 53.7 bu/ac.
We are building the most complete data platform for global commodity markets, and this expansion helps scale our geospatial and weather services internationally to align with our global pricing and fundamental data. We will continue to increase access to our crop production and yield forecasts and look forward to expanding into additional markets, including South America, later this year!
