The Top Performing Stocks page is designed to let you quickly review the TOP TEN stock industry groups based on their components' overall performance for a given period.
Each industry in the heat map is clickable... and the selected industry then shows the three top-performing stocks (based on their weighted alpha), giving you an insight into which components are driving the overall performance of the industry.
The page initially loads based on 1-Month performance, with the option to change.
The Top Performing Stocks page can be a starting point to find trading candidates based on strong overall market performance.
Look for these key features:
- Select any timeframe from the dropdown above the heat map. The page initially loads showing the top 1-Month performers.
- Each of the industries in the heat map are "clickable" - and when you click on a different industry, the top three stocks (based on the timeframe chosen) are shown.
- Each of the three stocks has a PLUS Sign + by the symbol name, which opens up the Barchart "More Data" widget. This allows you to see other important information about the stock without leaving the page.
- Each of the stocks also shows a chart (configurable to look at short and long-term performance).
Industry Groups
Barchart classifies stocks into Industry groups, which are similar to the S&P Sectors but do not limit stocks to just those found in the major market Indices such as the Dow Jones Complex, Nasdaq 100 and S&P Indexes. An industry group helps you classify stocks in the same type of business for comparison purposes.
Only those industries that contain 10 or more stocks will be included for consideration on the Top Performing Industries page. This is done to prevent a single stock from having too great an effect on the ranking of the list.
