Dashboard is a one-page solution for viewing symbols you've identified as being of interest. It provides full-sized, streaming charts with high-level research tools for symbols saved to your Watchlists, and Portfolios, and from a number of other Major Markets pages.
Dashboard is available on a desktop computer or tablet. It opens in a new browser window allowing you to keep the Barchart.com website open in another window to research and monitor other market developments.
Dashboard is available only for registered members of the Barchart.com site.
Blue Navigation Bar
A blue navigational bar is fixed to the right side of Dashboard. Use the links on the blue bar to open different lists of symbols (called "Controllers"), allowing you to view full-sized charts for the group of symbols found in the Controller.
Example: The Watchlist Controller will let you access every Watchlist you've created so you can flip through full-sized charts for every symbol in your Watchlist.
Using the Blue Navigation Bar
At the top of the bar, a Menu icon is provided for access to other areas on the website. The bar is then divided into 4 sections, containing links or "buttons" that are clickable:

Open / Close Controller Lists
Open one of the Controller lists by clicking on the Markets, Watchlists, or Portfolios buttons in the blue bar.
Using the Controller
Once a Controller is open, you must click on the symbol you wish to display from the list. The selected symbol is highlighted in blue in the Controller, and the chart displays.
Desktop users may use their keyboard up and down arrows to navigate the Controller list and change the symbol, or just click again on any symbol you see in the Controller to change the chart.
You may also use the Symbol box on the top left of the chart to enter any symbol you choose.
Resizing the Controller
With the Controller open, you can resize the Chart container and Controller container areas. Use the vertical bar that separates the Controller from the Chart to drag and drop to new positions.
The Chart
The left portion of the Dashboard is the area where your full-sized chart appears. You will see either an Interactive or a Snapshot Chart (depending on your Site Preferences). Each chart is fully customizable using the chart settings and controls, and chart templates.
In addition, Barchart automatically saves the tools you apply to each chart, such as trend lines and annotations, when you are logged into your account.
Streaming Chart Updates
For Interactive Chart Users: When the market is in session, the Dashboard chart will automatically stream delayed new price data into the chart. Stocks: 15 minute delay, ET. Volume reflects consolidated markets. Futures and Forex: 10 or 15 minute delay, CT. Equity Options: 15 minute delay, ET.
For U.S. equities, you may also select either streaming real-time Cboe BZX prices or streaming delayed data for the chart. This option accessed by clicking the "cog" icon in the upper right to open the Chart Settings. Select the "Data" section and check the "Real-Time" option. For all other types of symbols (international equities, futures, forex), the chart will stream new updates automatically, but the data is delayed, per exchange rules.
IMPORTANT: Streaming, real-time Cboe BZX data for U.S. equities, streaming delayed data, and chart tools are not available with Snapshot Charts. Change your default chart type to Interactive Charts in your Site Preferences to take full advantage of Dashboard's features.
For Snapshot Chart Users: You will always see a static delayed data chart.
"Grid Charts" and "Multi-Charts"
Barchart Plus and Barchart Premier Members have an additional way to view multiple charts at once while in Dashboard. Using the "1x1" icon, you can select to view from 2 to 6 different charts at once.
SYNC Settings tell the chart panel whether you are loading one symbol into all frames (Grid Charts) or different symbols in each frame (Multi-Charts).
- Symbol Sync ON: load one symbol into all frames (Grid Charts)
- Symbol Sync OFF: select any frame to make it the "active frame" (indicated with a blue outline) then either type the symbol you want to view, or click on a symbol from any of your controllers.
Other Sync settings include the options for Interval, Indicator, Bar Type, and Template. With one of those settings checked (ON), changes apply to all charts in all frames.
Grids and Multi-Charts are available only when your Plus or Premier account is set to use Interactive Charts as your preferred chart type. Your chart type is set in your Site Preferences page.
