As I had recently commented on this platform, last week we were at the line in the sand as to where the equities markets are going to go.
But, low and behold, the gravestone doji that showed up in the equities indices on Friday is anything but bullish. If you don't know what
I am referring to, let's take a look:
The above illustration is that of a Gravestone Doji that showed up in 2 of the 4 main equities sister indices (ES and NQ).
Although the Barnhart chart for the ES and NQ do not show the Gravestone in their charts, it does show up on my broker's platform TOS. Either way, a gravestone doji or an inverted hammer doji ARE BEARISH as all get out.
Not only are we seeing this chart pattern in the ES, but also in AAPL, META, MSFT, and GOOGL, which are major contributors to the ES. If it were not
for a handful of stocks this year, the ES would not be doing so well. Now, we are about to see this week how bad they will go down with such a bearish signal.
Economic data that is being released, including by BLS/ JOLTS, is finally showing that the U.S. economy is slowing down and I do expect a recession into last half of 2023 into first half of 2024. You have to have your eyes wide open to a possibility that a sell-off will happen in the coming weeks and months. Are you protected? I am not saying to sell out all your stocks, but to lighten the load or perhaps look at DOWNSIDE protection. DRV is a great RISK-OFF asset that can be bought to protect Asset devaluation.
