Cocoa #7 Futures Market News and Commentary

Cocoa Prices Close Higher on Support from Dollar Weakness

May ICE NY cocoa (CCK25) Friday closed up +63 (+0.79%), and May ICE London cocoa #7 (CAK25) closed up +94 (+1.52%).

Cocoa prices recovered from early losses on Friday and settled moderately higher on a decline in the dollar (DXY00).  Since posting 4-1/2 month lows last Friday, cocoa prices have traded sideways and consolidated their recent losses.

The recovery in cocoa inventories is also bearish for prices.  Since falling to a 21-year low of 1,263,493 bags on January 24, ICE-monitored cocoa inventories held in US ports have rebounded and climbed to a 5-month high Friday of 1,806,361 bags.... Read more
