Don trades mostly relatively low risk, out of the money covered calls and cash secured puts on big cap dividend stocks and ETFs for options premiums and short-term capital gains income. He is retired owner of a small magazine, newsletter and blog publisher and marketing communications firm.
Don began his career as a commodity futures reporter on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade and as a business reporter for The Wall Street Journal.
His writing about futures markets and other markets continued at the Chicago Sun-Times, New York Journal of Commerce and American Metal Market. On the side he wrote a weekly Looking Into Futures column for the Media General Financial Daily, and he wrote market stories for Feedstuffs and the London, UK-based Metals Bulletin. Don wrote a blog, The Business Word, between 2001 and 2011 when the web site host changed owners and the archives were lost.
Then he became editor of Crain’s Modern Healthcare for 10 years before starting his publishing business, The Business Word, with his wife, a former risk management consultant and editor of Business Insurance magazine. He has an MBA in finance.
