Coffee Futures Market News and Commentary

NY Coffee Higher on Dollar Weakness

May arabica coffee (KCK25) Friday closed up +1.15 (+0.30%), and May ICE robusta coffee (RMK25) closed down -14 (-0.26%).

Coffee prices Friday settled mixed.  Arabica coffee saw support from a weaker dollar.  However, robusta was under pressure from expectations for an increase in global supplies as Marex Solutions projects Vietnam's 2025/26 robusta production at 28.8 million bags, up +7.9% y/y, and Brazil's 2025/26 robusta production at 25 million bags, up +13.6% y/y.

Coffee prices have been on the defensive the past two sessions, with arabica falling to a 1-month nearest-futures low on Thursday and robusta dropping to a 2-1/4 month nearest-futures low.  Coffee prices retreated on forecasts for rain in Brazil that would ease dryness concerns.  Meteorologist Climatempo forecasted widespread showers for Brazil's coffee-growing regions into next week.  Somar Meteorologia reported Monday that Brazil's biggest arabica coffee growing area of Minas Gerais received 31.2 mm of ra...
